Hi, everyone! Although I'm still on Etsy, I want to be able to find members who have moved on, so I hope you don't mind me joining this group. :) Best, Pam
I left Etsy at the beginning of the year, and I have to say I couldn't be happier. I now have a ton more free time, no longer feel stressed, and definitely don't have to deal with the ever increasing "downs" of dealing with an Independent site.
I Felt that Etsy was not the best site for my venue, but my product was definitely good enough (I was trading like a madwoman!), so I created my own website.
I am also having a big giveaway for the launch of my site (worth $200), just sign up for my newsletter on my blog. I will also be having additional giveaways every month (I can't help it, I'm addicted).
I will be back to tell you about some additional marketing I have found that might help you out :)
I just recently closed my two shops on Etsy--Groovy Vinyl and Impybat. I was a bit torn doing so because I had done moderately well and people were finding my shops, but there was too much of the negative happening over there that made it impossible for me to continue doing business on that site.
Yes, I registered with DaWanda and I bookmarked a whole bunch of other sites that were suggested on the UEN to check into later on--Shopify, Canduru, HandmadeCatalog, anda few others.
Hi
I'm ebb and flo aka pomo mama design. Since last spring I've been making myself more independant of Etsy. Being threatened with account closure is a sure fire way of waking you up. I have my own website http://pomomamadesign.com now which links all the other places I sell - it's a one-stop shopping destination! I sell jewelry and handcrafted supplies, and also branch out into some fibre work too which I'll be selling hopefully thru Dawanda.
I've used Google's page creator with a domain forward from Go Daddy to set up initially.
Good luck to everyone setting out on their own.
Amanda
